Besides being a suave, debonair raconteur, David’s an actor, filmmaker, podcaster with the award-winning podcast The Writers Block with the Deadliest Man in Comics, Rylend Grant, and he’s a writer in tv/film, as well as having penned numerous comic titles including properties as DOC SAVAGE, THE SHADOW, VAMPIRELLA, BETTIE PAGE, and many ELVIRA team-ups.
On January 7th, Image Comics released a forty-page spectacular RADICALLY REARRANGED RONIN RAGDOLLS Adventures #100 – an in-universe comic plucked from the pages of Kevin Eastman and David Avallone’s fan-favorite DRAWING BLOOD series and brought to life to enrich the world building.

About David Avallone:
David Avallone’s writing career began with STAR WARS stories for the West End role playing game, and last year he wrote for the PLANET OF THE APES RPG. Recently, he has written multiple episodes of BATWHEELS for Warner Brothers Animation, and is currently wrapping up his original comic series DRAWING BLOOD, co-created with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator Kevin Eastman, for Image comics.
He hosts a couple of podcasts, including the Telly award-winning THE WRITERS BLOCK. His comics work includes writing many iconic characters, like Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Bettie Page, Zorro, Vampirella, Red Sonja, The Shadow, Doc Savage and John Carter/Dejah Thoris. His Kolchak comic won a Scribe Award from the International Alliance of Media Tie-In Writers. His prose work includes short fiction on classic characters Nick Carter and Sherlock Holmes, and his last original crime story, The Golden Road, has been selected by John Grisham for inclusion in the 2025 edition of the prestigious Best Mystery Stories of the Year. He is the son of prolific novelist Michael Avallone and women’s rights activist Fran Avallone. He lives in Hollywood, California with his delightful wife Augusta and three mischievous cats.
