The Sword in the Stone: Arthur’s Magical Kingdom is a grand continuation of Disney’s beloved film, ‘The Sword and the Stone.’

This epic journey follows young Arthur, now the rightful ruler of Camelot, as he embarks on a transformative journey guided by the whimsical and wise sorcerer, Merlin. When the powerful and malicious sorceress, Madam Mim, comes back from the great beyond, she brings not only a heart of revenge but new and powerful allies. In this tale, Arthur must grapple with the challenges of ruling a kingdom, while an evil spell threatens to rewrite history and destroy Camelot as we know it. Through Merlin’s guidance, Arthur learns that magic cannot solve all of life’s problems and is reminded of why he was chosen by the sword in the first place.

Creative Team:

Writer Gabriel Valentin

Gabriel Valentin, the writer of Digital Lizards of Doom, possesses long standing passions for composition and storytelling. Valentin grew up on epic fantasy/adventure books, games and movies. With his story, he wants to help ignite that same fire in the hearts of young readers!

Sword in the Stone is one of, if not my favorite, Disney movies of all time! When I found out there was a possibility I could write something and play in that universe, I lost my mind! I couldn’t sleep for days and bugged every editor that would listen to me for a chance to tell a story that I hope lifelong SITS fans like myself will enjoy!” – Writer, Gabriel Valentin

Writer Michael J. Snow

Michael J. Snow spent his childhood exploring the rural countryside of his hometown and embracing the power of story through fantasy comics, TV, and every form of media he could get his hands on. Taking inspiration from the world around him and the entertainment he consumed, Michael created worlds of fantasy and adventure throughout his youth, but put those things aside for a more traditional career path as an adult. After over a decade on that path, he felt the creative pull and returned to storytelling. Now, as a writer, he creates characters and stories that entertain, inspire, and call upon imagination to say something unique about the world we share.

I grew up on Disney movies, and there was something I always loved about Sword in the Stone, both for the world of magic that said anything is possible, and the theme that anyone can be a hero. I’m super excited about the opportunity to bring that magic to a new generation and inspire young readers to find the hero inside. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to honor the original Sword in the Stone by creating something that felt like the film we grew up with, while also using Merlin’s magical fun to educate and inspire modern audiences. Blending nostalgia and new ideas, I hope this book is a joy for young and old for years to come. – Writer, Michael J. Snow

Artist Lorenzo Colangeli

Lorenzo Colangeli, also known as Gizmo, is a comic artist, illustrator, and character designer born in Rome in 1994. After studying Chinese at the University for Foreigners in Beijing, he chose to pursue his passion for drawing. Today, he collaborates with major international companies such as DreamWorks, Disney, and Asmodee.

“The Sword in the Stone has been my childhood, I almost broke the VHS for how many times I watched it. I hope to have served that masterpiece properly, and that the people see the love I have put in this book, which represents to my child-self a dream coming true.” – Artist, Lorenzo Colangeli

Letterer Chas! Pangburn

Be it as a writer, editor, and/or letterer, Chas! Pangburn puts words in balloons. He’s been fortunate to collaborate with various creators for publishers such as Dark Horse, IDW, Image, and Mad Cave Studios. Every moment of his free time revolves around video games and spooky things.
